This is by far the tastiest thing you can do with your fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden.
It looks so simple (because it is), but your taste buds will explode and beg you for more!
Ingredients
- 3 vine-ripe tomatoes, 1/4-inch thick slices
- 1 pound fresh mozzarella, 1/4-inch thick slices
- 20 to 30 leaves (about 1 bunch) fresh basil
- Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
- Coarse salt and pepper
Directions
Layer alternating slices of tomatoes and mozzarella, adding a basil leaf between each, on a large, shallow platter. Drizzle the salad with extra-virgin olive oil and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
If you want you can add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar too, which we did.
I highly recommend it.

Simple and simply delicious…the epitome of summer food.

Caprese is my favorite salad. Mine is a little different, but yours looks heavenly!
What do you do differently?
One of the best ways to use all the basil from my ever growing basil plant. Looks delicious
Delicious!
What is the dark drizzle in the picture? Is it balsamic?
Yes it is.
I can’t wait to eat this when my tomatoes ripen!
Beautiful….could eat the whole plate right now.
I cannot get enough caprese. Basil is seriously on my plate 3 times a day!
Reblogged this on Luis Payne Blogs.
